This was rolled on Indian Head cents for Charter members. Dottie Dow did the electric vibrator engraving of the member’s name and number.
The first membership elongated coin was issued to charter members with the rolls for charter membership closing at the end of 1967, with a total of 306 members. This coin was rolled by Ralph W. Jobe, on 1982 Indian cents to commemorate the first known elongated coin from the Columbian Expo. It is a horizontal roll, dotted border and reads: THE ELONGATED COLLECTORS “TEC” FOUNDED Aug. 20, 1966. The members name and number was engraved on the back. A small RWJ at right of coin. Note, no owl!

This issue again by Henry W. Blaha similar to his 1970 design is a vertical roll on 1970D cents, wire border, reads: TEC (at top) large owl center, MEMBER 1971. No doubt a re-engraved die from Henry’s first design.

The 1972 issue by Robert Luchtman horizontal roll on 1972D cent wire border, reads: T.E.C. MEMBER (owl on right & left) 1972 at the bottom.

This was rolled on Japanese 1 yen aluminum coins.

The 1975 issue is a horizontal roll on 1974D cents, star border. Reads MEMBER T.E.C. (small TEC owl logo at left) THE ELONGATED COLLECTORS 1975. No initials.

The 1976 issue again by SAlly & Al Kirka, horizontal roll on 1975 cents, special border. Reads 10th anniversary 1966 TEC (owl logo) 1976 MEMBER small SAK at right.

The 1977 issue is by Robert Luchtman, horizontal roll on 1976D cents, with wire border, reads THE ELONGATED COLLECTORS (at top) 19-(owl logo)-77, MEMBER-(at bottom).

The 1978 issue is a horizontal roll on 1977D cents scallop border, reads: TEC (owl logo at left) T.E.C. MEMBER 1978 (at right) checkered background.

This was the first time that a nickel was used.

This was a special membership coin. Chet would engrave your name, number, 1985 and TEC on the coin. You had to special order this elongated coin.

This was the regular membership elongated coin.

This one was engraved in error, giving two coins for 1991. Only members could buy this coin after the Convention.

This is the same as 1991 only the date was changed.

TEC allowed Members to design the coin for this year, and the best design was issued for the membership coin.

This design was originally submitted as part of the 2012 Design Contest but was not chosen as a winner. The board liked the design and asked Paul to modify it for use as the 2013 membership coin. This coin is double sided

2016 is the 50th Anniversary of TEC so the 2016 Member coins were rolled on 1966 cents.  It was done in the same format as the first TEC Member coin.  The 1966 cents were donated by various TEC members.
